Jacob's background

From Competitive Golf to Coaching

I'm Jacob Williams, PGA Associate and founder of Golf Upgrades. Golf has shaped the way I learn, compete, and coach. I competed for four seasons on the men's golf team at UC San Diego, where I studied economics with an accounting minor.

That experience taught me the value of preparation, useful feedback, and steady improvement. I built Golf Upgrades around a simple idea: instruction should be clear, personal, and practical. You should understand what you are working on, why it matters, and how to practice it after the lesson.

How lessons work

Coaching Built Around Your Game

There is no single swing model that fits every golfer. I begin by learning what you want from the game, what is happening now, and which change deserves attention first.

  1. Start with your goals

Focus the lesson on the part of your game that matters most to you.

  2. Make the problem clear

Use simple explanations and focused feedback so the change makes sense.

  3. Leave with a plan

Finish with practical next steps you can use during your next practice session.

Useful feedback

Technology When It Helps

Video and launch-monitor feedback can make ball flight and movement easier to understand. I use those tools when they add clarity or confirm a change—not to overwhelm you with numbers.

Who I coach

Golfers at Every Stage

I coach adults and juniors, from first-time golfers to experienced and competitive players. Lessons can focus on full swing, short game, putting, strategy, or building a more effective practice plan.

Whatever your starting point, the goal is the same: leave the lesson with a clearer understanding of your game and what to work on next.
